Queer Theory

Section A:  Queer theory is a field of gender studies that emerged in the early 1990's out the fields of guy and lesbian studies and feminist studies.
  • Although many people believe in that queer theory is only about homosexual representation in literature, it also explodes.
  • It is not only concerned with sexuality but also with idenity.
  • It sees gender as constructed socially, to some extent through our association with the media.

  • The hetrosexual: queer theorist analysis texts to expose undertying meanings within and to challange the notions of 'straight' ideology.
  • They generally challenage the idea that what appears to be straight is in fact a subversion of true homosexual desires.
